Lab Cases Attached to Procedure Codes

Post by thielbar1 » Thu Apr 16, 2009 3:14 am

Is it possible to set up a procedure to prompt a lab case? For example, Softdent had an option that could be checked when you set up or entered a procedure code that would prompt the opening of a lab case. We used it for almost all of the procedures requiring lab work (i.e. crowns, dentures, repairs, space maintainers, splints, ortho, etc.) If it was something you did in house you didn't have to mark that option. It was much easier to use because it was an automatic prompt. When a procedure was posted for a patient, all you had to do was pick a lab from the drop down menu and add the tooth # and shade. That lab case stayed attached to that patient/procedure and was indicated on the schedule if it was or wasn't here. Once here, they were checked in, invoice #'s & amounts added, etc. It tracked all lab cases, showed you at start up the number of cases due that day, allowed you to print outstanding cases by lab, patient, dates, etc. When Labs were added in the setup or list menu, turn around time for cases could be added, like 2 weeks for crowns or 2 days for denture repair, etc. Sorry for the long explanation...but is this at all possible????

Sounds great, please enter it as a feature request!

Turnaround time and tracking are already existing features that work well. Of the features you listed, the only one we don't have is automatic prompt. But the rest are all built in.

I still would like to improve tracking...we need better sorting in the lab case tracker still. I think we need another dated status for when case is seated and/or completed. That way we could filter them out better in the list for tracking open lab cases.
