xp pro number of computers

Refresh my memory please
How many servers/workstations/computers can be on xp pro?

Unlimited if they are "workstations". But if the computer has a resource, such as a printer or a shared folder, then it can only share that resource with 10 computers at a time. The 11th computer either gets an error message, or it has to wait for about 15 seconds while one of the other computers gets disconnected from the resource.

The way to go if you are a little computer savvy, is to install a server with linux and then you have unlimited capacity. All your regular workstations can be XP as many as you desire! And you no longer have those network problems that always seemed to hound our office with dropped connections.

Other options as you grow

Another option is Windows Small Business Server. The nice thing about SBS is the interface on the server looks a lot like XP and once setup there is very little maintenance. I am not saying that a Linux solution would be bad here either. It just depends on your comfort zone.
