Total employee hours

Is there any way to calculate the total number of hours worked for a given time period other than a pay period?
I would like to calculate the total hours worked for 2008 for each employee.
Would I need a special query for this?

I think you would need a query, someone else may know something I don't on this, call customer service and I will write you a query, that seems like a useful query.
