Transfer of program to another computer

Post by Roy Bloom » Wed Aug 01, 2007 6:43 am

I bought a new laptop and will be giving my XPS dell to my wife. They are leaving for the coast and alas my laptop is not here yet. I am going to back up to a flash drive....but I do not think this will transfer the program. What do I need to do to transfer the whole thing? I have not been on support for a year or so and I am runnning 4.8.

Thanks

Roy

well

first how did you install the program in the first place use that ?.

or

1) install mysql (same as what you have) restore the backup to it
2) copy the open-dent.exe and all the dll which would be in one folder in programs)
3) copy the a-z folder

then you are set to run
now run the open-dent and choose the database

Well, I do not remember how I did it. I think I called Jordan. I should probably get back on the monthly support program. I would like to see a website version so I can access it anywhere. I did have TNT dental call.......and was told still desktop.

Thanks for your help!

If you look on your old server, you will find C:\Program Files\OpenDentalInstaller\ which contains the old trial version. Install that first. Then use the Setup.exe in your A-Z folder to upgrade to your current version.

Normally, you would install the current trial version posted on our website as a starting point. But it's too new for you I think.
