Insurance Claim Sent Date

Post by savvy » Mon Oct 20, 2008 7:38 pm

This must be availabe, but I can't seem to find it......

We send insurance claims electronically on the same day of treatment.
Occaisionally, we have to resubmit a claim.
My staff asked me how one finds the date a claim was sent.
I figured that this was a slam dunk, that a note would be automatically placed in the comm log just like for statements, but no.
Where can I find the date that the claim was sent?

Double click on the claim from the account window. In the upper right there is a field like "Date Sent" or something that should give you the info you are looking for.

well, the original date sent is not kept when a claim is resubmitted, I usually advise that you would note this in the claim note or comm log if you originally sent the claim on a date different that the service date AND you have to resend a claim.

I am thankful that there are people that are smarter than me when it comes to understanding the ins and outs of computer programming.
However, what is frustrating to me is that one of the major reasons a programmer gives as justice for his creation is, "less computer strokes."
Perhaps it's because I don't know jack about programming, but if one can make a code that will both enable a patient statement to be generated, printed, have a note, "Statement Sent on such a date" placed and determine whether that statement was mailed or in person (and make a note for that), it seems like a no brainer to have the same functions be done for insurance statements.............and recall.

What am I missing here?

You could go vote for that feature. There are lots of features we "could" add. But there's no way we can do them all immediately so we prioritize. That feature request is listed as "Track resent dates on claims". It currently has 11 votes.
