Charting Question

Post by parksjdp » Tue Sep 23, 2008 8:31 am

We recently have been seeing old restorations that show through PFM's on the 3d chart. For example, in 2002 patient had composites place on 29 & 31. In the meantime PFM's were placed, however the old composites still show through. Is there a heirarchy for what should show and what should not. We have many examples of it not showing correctly, but don't know how to fix it. We have made sure the the shades that are set for the procuedures match, but to no avail.

Yes, the heirarchy is that TP procs will always cover C procs. You said, "We have made sure the the shades that are set for the procuedures match." What does that mean? Are you overriding the colors in the procedurecode setup window? That's not advised.

For the color questions, we have dentures set to light color, however when we add a tooth to a denture it shows up in dark. For that procedure I would then check to make sure it is set to light in the setup window. Its not really a issue of TP's not showing up properly as it other things such as these:

Here is an example of what we are having problems with. 1/1/05 PFM placed on #11, showed in dark blue like it should. Then 9/1/08, tooth extracted, and added to partial, still shows in dark blue even though the add tooth code says it should be light blue.

Another example, 4/22/99, composite placed on #29. Patient then leaves the practice only to return with a PFM on that tooth. We chart as Existing Other, however the old composite filling still shows on the green pfm.

Thoughts?

Example 1 is a different problem. The problem is that there is no way to get rid of a graphic for an extracted tooth. You could vote for that feature request.

C takes precedence over EO, the logic being that nearly all EO procedures will have been done before C procedures, before the patient became your patient. This would also be solved by a checkbox to hide a graphic.
