Move Unscheduled to Planned Tracker

Post by opensource » Sun Aug 17, 2008 9:06 am

Hello Dr. Jordan / Team,

Is there a way to move an appointment on the unscheduled to the 'Planned Tracker' from within the 'Unscheduled List' in a couple of clicks ?

The only work-around that I know for accomplishing the above is to delete the appointment from the unscheduled list after creating an appointment in the 'Plannned Tracker' as a seperate activity.

Please clarify.

Cheers,

You are correct. That is currently the method to do that. But why wouldn't it already be in the planned tracker? Appointments are scheduled by starting with the planned appointment, so how did you end up with an appointment that was different in the first place?

Hello Dr. Jordan / Team,

The workflow our dental office follows is as follows :

1. Treatment Plan to Planned Tracker (The highest priority treatment)
2. Planned Tracker to Scheduled Appointment (when patient schedules appointment)
3. Scheduled appointment to Unscheduled appointment (when an appointment is broken by Patient)
4. Unscheduled appointment to Planned Tracker (even when with repeated followup Patient is not ready to schedule appointment)
-- This is where the problem is..It would have been great if there was an easier way to put an appointment from the 'Unscheduled List' into 'Planned Tracker' with a couple of clicks :-(

Do let me know if you think our office should be following a different workflow or if u have any other thoughts...

Cheers,

I understand until you get to #4. Why not just delete the unscheduled appointment? The planned appointment already exists.

On Step # 2..when we schedule the appointment...we clear the Planned Appointment (delete it in Planned under Charts).....should that not be the process ?..since my understanding is that when you plan an appointment and then schedule it..you do not need to keep it in planned tracker ?...when the Patient completes their scheduled appointment...we put the next priority treatment as a Planned Appointment..if they do not schedule an appointment on their way out..for whatever reason.

Definitely not. Don't delete the planned appointment until you actually have the patient in the chair and are getting ready to do the treatment. Sheduled appointments won't show up in the planned tracker.

hmmm...interesting suggestion. Will start implementing it in the office and see how it goes...basically, we will delete a planned tracker only to replace it with the next priority treatment. Looks like this would mean that there is always a 'Planned Treatment' in the chart section unless the Patient is completely done with all the treatment.

Thanks Dr. Jordan

Right. Patient always has a planned appointment so that they can't slip through the cracks.

Can you only do one planned appt per patient. For example, if a patient has a TP for PFM, can you plan both appts at one time or does the planned appt tracker only hold on planned appt?

It only holds one planned appointment right now. You could vote for this enhancement using our new voting system in 5.9.
