Sheets Why is there so much talk about it
Sheets Why is there so much talk about it
I have spent the whole weekend moving forms to this sheet format and honestly it seems like a giant exercise in patience. It seems like all these features are all half truths. Learning on your own the differences between all the sheets alone is a task. Once you do that and then figure out which sheet is used where and then jpeg this and pdf that you then find out that there is a list of encrypted fields that you have to stick into your sheet and hopefully they will be usable fields. Or fields that can be imported. Has anyone had success with these sheets, kiosk, webforms or patient form sheets because all Im getting out of these sheets is screwed. please help. bare minimum can you please outline what the different fields represent and are they located in the database or form specific. and why cant you do a referral slip from family file or why there is no field available for employer? For the first time I have gotten a little turned off by an OD feature. Can someone please speak to the power of these sheets and how to implement them.
1.And why in Gods green earth is there no search feature when you pull up referrals. I have to scroll through 100s of patients just to get to a specialist referral?
2. Why does holding down the mouse button allow you to draw on the sheet?
3. why do you have to go through the family module to make a referral?
4. why does it not give you an option to save the sheet in an image folder of your choice?
5. the print/email button is nice and should be implemented in every print to patient option, but the print button should create a pdf first then print because print may or may not cut off margins
6. under the checkbox what is the required box for?
I apologize for the rant but after spending 3 days working on this it was very upsetting to have soooo many things not working, and I'm no closer to really understanding the benefits of the sheets then last week.

Re: Sheets Why is there so much talk about it
I understand your frustration. My main overall suggestion would be to take it a little slower, you know, maybe a few hours at a time instead of an entire weekend. For example, delving into online forms would come after you are comfortable with the basics.
1. Not really related to the sheets issue. We just haven't gotten around to it. I think you'll like some of the referral features that we did add in 11.0.
2. It's a feature. Imagine a jpg of a form with a bunch of checkboxes and diagrams on it. The drawing feature makes the form behave much like a paper form without the need to add ANY fields at all on top of the jpg.
3. Well, you have to go through somewhere. We will eventually let you also go to it from the Chart module.
4. Sheets are not images. The only place they are currently intertwined is in the Patient Forms window where you can see both sheets and images.
5.
6. Let's say you have two radiobuttons, yes and no. You want to force the user to check one or the other before allowing the form to close.

Re: Sheets Why is there so much talk about it
1. thanks for the heads up
2. would be nice to be able to turn it off. it makes for a bunch of messy dots when having to mark checkboxes
3. it would seem to make since to go through the chart or txment plan because thats where you select referred treatment also a mini tooth chart image to coincide with the referred treatment would be a nice add.
4. im referring to the same way you handle statements. when you generate a statement it is stored in the statement folder, so when a sheet is generated it should be stored as a pdf in the patients image module.
5.whats on the screen is what is printed in a pdf, but going straight to print may or may not chops off the edges of the document. and it also depends on which printer it comes out on also. The print and mail is a great feature and is needed as an option for anything we print to a patient. I email statements to patients and print them and being able to have the option to print and or email on one screen is a nice touch. not the current statement set up that you have to print then go back in to email it to the patient.
6. thanks for the clarity.
And always thanks for pushing the program to new limits.

Not sure this is what you are looking for but, if you open the referrals window (List/Referrals), and then open up the Referral you are interested in, you can bring up a list of all patients referred to or from that referral. (On the right side of the window, in the "Used by Patients" box).enamelrod wrote: 1.And why in Gods green earth is there no search feature when you pull up referrals. 3. why do you have to go through the family module to make a referral?
My plugin solves this problem and enhances referrals access quite a bit. I use it all the time everyday and it gives access in the chart (where you really need it) and account (so the front desk can see it and make the phone call for the referral you want).

what im referring to rick solves in one of his you tube videos about how to organize the referral list...
and ifran I did the same thing made a tune of check boxes because there is NO documentation about drawing on the form and the thought behind it.
ultimately i didnt have to have any check boxes. moving all those xs is a pain in the rump.

Re: Sheets Why is there so much talk about it
I don't have a screenshot of the referral part up there, but yes, it is completely stable if you use and follow the proper versions. Anytime you do a major version upgrade you usually should check first to see if I have a new plugin available. I always have one before it is out of beta, but not always at the start of a beta. It all depends on if the OD team changes and breaks corresponding code that my plugin alters, then the plugin has to be updated as well. I use it always in my office, so it will always be kept up to date with the main OD program, you just can't upgrade to the latest right away without checking with me. If you do and the plugin crashes for a few days, you can alway disable it and work like normal until I get it up to date with the latest OD changes as it does not alter your database, just enhances it's use...
Just try out a version that matches the OD version you are using and see for yourself in the account and family file the changes...

Re: Sheets Why is there so much talk about it
OpenDental version 7.9.7 broke my plugin again as a function I was using was removed. I had to fix it and release a new version which is now on the website for OD versions 7.8.7 and later. This has never happened before mid version, but really caused problems at my office.
I hope this is not a regular occurrence where functions change and required parameters change as bug fixes in the middle of a release. I expect this to happen sometimes with each major version release, but not in the middle.
