Problem restoring from an old version of opendental

Post by gorilla121 » Sun Jan 09, 2011 3:11 pm

I bought an office that was running an old version of open dental. version 5.x.x.x.x.x. I did a back up from that computer and tried to restore it on my laptop that is running the trial version of opendental. I have not figured out how to make this work. The folder names seem to be different. The version 5.x.x.x.x. names the
A-Z image file as opendentaldata but I believe the new version is named as opendentimage. I've been tinkering with it for a couple of hours but now its driving me crazy. When I click the option to ignore the image files during restore it will continue to restore but then tell me that the SQL service can't be stopped. I'm planning on adding 4 more computers to the office but I want to make sure that I can restore data from this old computer to the new server before I plunk down some $$$. Help!

The name of the AtoZ folder doesn't matter at all.

Don't use the restore tool. Use the Manual Restore method described at the bottom of
http://www.opendental.com/manual/backups.html

You are attempting a fairly complex task for someone unfamiliar with our software. We can make it much easier for you by doing it for you over a remote connection.
