PDF files are usually smaller and take up less room on your hard drive than jpegs. I use a third party software (Paperport) to scan and then import it into the Image module. It's very easy for differences to accumulate. I try to keep up with it every week or month. When a discrepancy shows up I have to go back in to OD and fix it. It's usually mean editing the date something was posted. Sometimes it's improper use of "adjustments".

It may have something to do with the way you enter adjustments or returns/refunds to patients. Also, you have to watch the dates you enter payments. c:\dexis\xpat.exe opens the dexis administration window, from which you can click on a pt name to open their Dexis file. c:\dexis\dexis.exe xxxx where xxxx is the pt ID # opens the pt Dexis file directly without going through the Dexis Admin window. Yeah, it works that way for me too, and when the nea request is sent it is great. The problem is half the time there is no request sent by claim connect then the insurance, usually delta, sends a letter saying they didnt get an xray or narrative. Claimconnect says it is due to delta not providing t...

I've never had to enter a patient manually into NEA. I "SEND" my claim from OD to ClaimConnect. Re: Keyboard shortcuts - Add to Manual and Search
In looking at old posts, I found CTRL-SHIFT-R brings up the referral screen. And of course, I know that CTRL-SHIFT-C brings up the contact list. So what otehr keyboard shortcuts am I missing? I'd like to see the documentation added in the manual and search list too. Ctrl-Shift-R doesn't do anything...

Re: Dashboard
OK, another question about the Dashboard. Could you explain the x-axis. The month numbers fall on lines. Are those the first day of the month, the last day of the month, or the middle of the month. I assumed they were the last day of the month, but then what is the dark line half way between 12 & 1?...

Re: bridge to Dexis
That's nice for a private office, but not practical in an operatory.bralli wrote:If you tend to use a specific computer to look at xrays, I would highly encourage a dual monitor setup. It's really nice having Open Dental full screen on one monitor and Dexis up on the other.

Re: Quickbooks Integration - Different Computers
Well, I am going to have to upgrade to 2012 by the end of May anyway, or I'll lose my payroll service functionality. So I guess that will take care of it.

Re: Dashboard
Is there a way to delete the Dashboard data and have it recalculate from scratch? I have made so many corrections for 2011 that it isn't remotely close to an accurate representation.

Dashboard
When and how does the Dashboard update itself? It seems that when I make changes to previous transactions nothing changes. For example. If I did work on a charity pt last month and go back and change the fees to zero or add a negative adjustment dated last month, shouldn't the Dashboard show a lower...

Re: Quickbooks Integration
Using: OD version 12.2.9 QB version 2009 Followed directions to set up integration. When I create a deposit I get the following message: The version of qbXML that was requested is not supported or is unknown. A deposit has not been created in Quickbooks, continue anyway? Not sure if this is the solu...

That is quite interesting Jordan.
And one more thing DrPham:
Have you ever dealt with a company where you can post questions and they will be answered on a daily basis by the CEO himself?

Re: bridge to Dexis
Do I need specific software from Dexis to bridge to Open Dental? Will DEXray software, DEXimage software and DEXnet software be enough for the bridge? You don't need anything from Dexis and you don't have to pay for bridge software. You set up the bridge in OD (no cost). DexRay is their x-ray modul...

Re: Initial training
Will Open Dental bridge well with Dexis imaging software? Thanks for the swift reply! When you say OD bridge well with Dexis, does this mean a one click to access a specific patient's X-rays in Dexis without retyping name, etc...? YES again. One click on the Dexis button in OD closes any Dexis file...

Re: Initial training
Dr. Hershey, Do you recommend Open Dental over Dentrix and why? It seems like OD is too good to be true. I need something basic for my new start-up but want it to be able to handle growth. Ease of use, compatibility with other softwares, and performances is what I would like to use. Will Open Denta...

Re: Scanned .pdf file size
Agreed.
Separate issue: what about exporting a PDF from Images? Should be able to export it.
You know what. Nevermind, I just thought of a workaround. Open the PDF in Adobe and do whatever your want with it form there.

Re: Scanned .pdf file size
Found it. Tried it. Not practical. One scan may be duplex and the next not. It's better to have the options open each time. The options remember the last scan so you only have to change an option when you want to.
Jordan,
What about "Exporting". Why can't we export a PDF file?

Re: Connecting to OD from outside the office
If the Topaz won't work over a Remote Desktop connection, will it work across a VPN between home and office? Or, for that matter, would it work in a cloud-based version of OD?

Re: Scanned .pdf file size
I don't know if what you mean by "compression" is actually "resolution". I see that you can change the resolution. I don't see anything in the software about changing the compression. No, compression. Specifically, it says, "JPEG Compression - Quality After Scanning". Don't you see that option? If ...
