Re: which version of windows7 to use....
no it shouldnt "crash" if it couldnt connect to the mysql database. By "crash" do you mean you start it and it automatically closes/freezes without you touching anything? Or do you click an error and then it closes?

i dont see how the firewall would crash it, it should just mention it cant connect to the database or find the AtoZ folder.

Re: Thinking about going with OD -- Few Questions
biggest noticeable differences will be: 1- server/client (domain) will be more secure, easier to manage 13 clients and users. 2- Peer-to-peer (still with a 'server' for OD but setup as workgroup) - simpler to setup to work together, cheaper since you arent paying for CALs and server 08. annoying to ...

Deleted Appts showing in Daily Production report?
I created some temporary appts to test out autonotes and some other functions, then set to complete, then deleted the whole appt. also we has a cancellation so we removed that appt. On our daily reports those appts are still showing up... is there a way to fix this? I dont recall this being an issue...

Re: which version of windows7 to use....
Windows 7 Home works fine for me on workstations, I run Windows 7 Ultimate (professional is fine) for the server. I dont use a domain, though sometimes I wish I did since I get so tired of installing apps on different computers and setting permissions, updating stuff, etc. I think that would all be ...

Re: Kiosk Hardware
the touchscreen monitor is a great idea for having patients read/sign forms in person that were emailed to them! my front desk is always asking about a kiosk system of sorts to have them sign, but id rather not have laptops floating around. might get a little cramped at the desk if we start getting ...

Re: Tip: Use Driver's License for Patient Photo
genius idea.
ive been wondering how we are going to implement photos.. ive got intraorals but the constant LED lighting in their face gets annoying and i dont think my assts will like lugging around the 50D for every patient. Other option is to use a point and shoot i guess.

Insurance Estimate wrong in Aging Report
On my aging reports the InsEst shows our total fees minus patient portion, but does not include writeoffs anticipated. The Insurance estimate in the patient account is fine- it shows a writeoff and insurance portion, but in the aging report it does not account for the writeoff. This is making my agi...

Re: Awesome AIO touch screen deal and touch screen signing
on a side note, a cheap wacom bamboo tablet should work just the same, no? it would be awkward for a patient to use since they wouldnt be used to the pen as input and would be wondering how to move the cursor, but for assts/frontdesk/drs to sign TPs/notes it would be cheaper than topaz and easier th...

Re: Autonotes
I like the checkbox idea. I also wouldnt mind if it was drop-down style broken into groups.. like drop down for how many ml of anesthetic, drop down for liodcaine/etc, drop down for epi (or combine into the anesthetic dropdown), and then a button to add another line for anesthetic incase you use mul...

Portrait mode?
Does anyone use open dental in portrait mode? Im wondering if I would be missing anything or have to do excessive side scrolling if i used it like that. I would use dual monitors at the 12:00 position, side by side, in portrait mode. This is because side by side horizontal would make the monitors st...
