I use the pop-up note feature for this. It will show up whenever the patient's name is selected (anywhere) but it is very effective in getting your attention.

Postscript - I re-discovered the reason that I had to do this. I had set up an automation trigger to show this (telephone contact) form when a new patient was appointed. The trigger will ONLY let me use an exam sheet in the automation sequence and not a form sheet.

Today I realized that my "New patient telephone screening form" was developed as an Exam sheet. SO - I exported, changed the sheet type (in .XML) from "ExamSheet" to "PatientForm" then imported and it "seems" to work. So my question is - should I trust this work-around?

It's a "webos" platform- so you could run it in a browser with something like Logmein ignition. Expect to see a lot of these on ebay as HP just dropped it from the product line. I think it has been out for less than a month.

Hmmm --- so if I have the box checked for edit sheets (which I do as an administrator), shouldn't there be an indication that the sheet was deleted in the audit view of the chart? I thought the audit caught every addition and deletion regardless.of security level?

I've repeated the test several times now on dummy patients.

From what I can tell, the lab slips (sheets) are not protected from deletion or tracked in the chart audit log. I have been able to delete them with no trace from the appointment module (Lab cases) button.

Each lab has its own slip - a copy of the Open Dental Sample Sheet.

Ok - so that is a game changer. Since I am creating all of my lab slips within Open Dental and signing them, I believed they were part of the legal record. Our state requires that we retain them for five years. So naturally, I assumed that they would become part of the record.

I deleted from the "Edit Lab Case" Window. The delete button at the lower left. I accessed the window by using the 'Lab Case Button" on the appointment book screen. Then double-clicked on the lab case.

That's how mine was working until I installed Win 7 sp1 and countless updates (countless updates!!!!). I'm pretty sure that it works like you would expect now, or I've gotten into the habit of pressing button #3.

I think the problem is having the mixed generation operating systems. This was a problem with Windows 98 v. Windows xp. I suspect that if it is all the same, there are no issues. Funny thing is you never hear about network issues from Apple users.

Hi Jay - the issues are ONLY between Windows 7 and my Server 2003 based network. Open Dental runs fine on Windows 7. I may just consider changing the OS on the server to Windows 7 in order to simplify my future installations.

3 M makes these very neat privacy screens that only allow you to see the screen when directly in front of it ( i believe in a 6o degree arc). They are inexpensive on ebay and simply adhere to the sides of the screen.

yes and no - I use ztoth - forget the procedure code - which assigns the note to the particular tooth. All of the 'No Fee' codes assign a code like N4110 to procedures like impressions, tooth notes, or clinical notes. Not sure in what context you are referring, but...... I have a phone panel in my office. It is a 3x3 foot board with 16 interconnected punch blocks mounted on it. Bill - I haven't started yet. I was going to get used to having the tablet in the op first. It's only been in a few days, but already I like it.
