So you sound like more of an IT person than a programmer. When I think about connecting to a database, I think about what tools my language (C#, Java, etc) has for connecting to the database. It sounds like you want a program instead. The program you would use is called the MySQL client. It is mysql...

The carriers get added as you add insurance plans to each patient. Yes, you fill the plan information in one by one unless you are converting an existing database. This would be another example of why a database conversion would be useful in spite of all the old patients.

It's easier to just archive the patient and be done with it. But if you really must delete it:
Assign the insurance to the patient.
Delete any ins plan adjustments at the upper right.
Change the subscriber to someone else, ok.
Drop the ins.

Robert,
There is no problem with the way you are doing it. That's not the slower "direct connection" that I was talking about. That's very similar to GoToMyPC, which I recommend in this case simply because he's having trouble with the VPN. GoToMyPC doesn't require a VPN.

Right. The feature request system doesn't literally determine what features we add. Yes. Any MySQL connector will work if you let the user specify connection details like database name, username, and password. Are you trying to synch the appointments to another server? We specifically support that, so I can give you more details if that's the goal.

I meant it's a little sluggish on a direct connection to the database over a VPN. The way you describe it, you are trying to connect to a different class C subnet. As far as I know, that's not possible, because class C networks only allow connections within a single subnet. Seems much easier to just...

Re: When will someone re-appear on Recall List?

On the recall list page http://www.opendental.com/manual/recalllist.html we provide a section called, "Reasons why a patient might not show on the list". You should probably start with that. If it turns out that we need to add another reason to the list, let us know. The plan is to eventually incorp...

It's kind of convoluted for you, but it's not too bad for the patients, right? We always push hard to get "something" out there, and then we work on the rough edges over time. The good news is that you probably get used to it after a few days. But I do completely understand the complaint.

As far as I can tell, that feature has not been changed for a long time. A few changes were made in 12.1, but nobody's using that yet. So my best guess is that you accidentally changed your settings. The quick paste setup window is not intuitive. We will rewrite it when we have time. But for now you...

I bet it won't do that if you use a smaller screen. It's the expected behavior because of the size of the screen. The program doesn't remember "times" when switching between views. It instead remembers "scroll positions". It's a feature request to have it keep track of times when switching. In fact,...

If we set it to show only the hours the office is open (request 109), it fixes the blank area at the top nicely, but it doesn't solve the blank area at the bottom. For that, you adjust the rows per increment. Also, request #2236 would help a lot because changing the font size would stretch each row ...
