Re: Microsoft Security Essentials or AVAST
We discuss certain pitfalls with different anti-virus software programs on our webpage: http://opendental.com/manual/virus.html As mentioned, no anti-virus is perfect, however we have had the most success with AVG. If you are working with IT and they have a recommendation, you should follow their in...

Typing a signature into a form may not hold up legally, as there is no way to prove who 'signed' the document. Using a signature pad is legally binding.
Our page: http://opendental.com/manual/digitalsignatures.html addresses the issues you raise about digital signatures and their legality.

There is not currently an option to add preferred name to the Appointment as an individual field. It is associated with PatientName, but not PatientNameF. Maybe it should just default to initial and then you can change to replacement if necessary. That is far too dangerous. Claims will get sent with the wrong information. It was a very deliberate decision to default to 'No'. The software cannot be responsible for determining this information, it must...

The alert will come when you try to create a claim. You will get an error: Unable to send claims until missing info is fixed. That alert will only go away when you enter the prosthesis date in the procedure edit window.

I'm afraid not. If you create a procedure button with one D4341 code, Open Dental will chart the code with a default Tx area of UR. The reason you can't change the patient picture is because your permissions don't allow it. That can be changed in Setup>Security.
