Well, until I see that there is indeed a vulnerability in TCs encryption, I don't think it's an issue I'm going to worry about. There is a known back door into BitLocler's encryption designed for law enforcement, but it won't take long for that to get out into other's hands if it hasn't already.

I'm guessing I'll need to order a custom query for this, but I'd like be able to export the data for A/R for the past 12 months, grouped by month. Basically I'd like to export the data to CSV so I can play with it in Excel.

Re: Question on Building an advanced metrics query
Kevin, that is a really awesome report. Tremendous amount of information all in one place. What do you do with all that information? BTW, have you looked at the graphical dashboard in OD? It has everything I'm looking for. I find it easier to look at than a spreadsheet of numbers. It shows you tren...

Ok, I have been doing some reading and can't we just upgrade a computer to Windows Ultimate 7 or 8 and enable encryption of all the patient data that way, rather than installing a third party encryption software program? You can encrypt a whole drive with TrueCrypt or BitLocker (Windows' built-in t...

Re: Question on Building an advanced metrics query
That always seems to be the simple route when wanting seemingly unrelated data to show all at once. We offer a service here at HQ for writing all kinds of complex queries for $90 an hour. You can always give us a call and put in a query request and get a quote on how hard our query department deems...

Re: Question on Building an advanced metrics query
Good luck. Typically when people try to make "one query to rule them all" they get so complicated that the data results never really seem to be quite right. If you ever need help trying to figure out where to grab data from or what tables to join together, I'll be able to help you in that aspect. O...

Question on Building an advanced metrics query
Hi Everyone, We are recent converts to Open Dental (as of Nov 1, 2013). I had a report that I made in our old software PracticeWorks that pulled together a number of different types of data to create one nice report with a bunch of different metrics that I like to track each year. Here's what the fi...

exactly. I know it can be done. weave system is a voip hosted asterisk. I use the same phones they use and they told me because my phones are not "programed" to work with their pbx they would not reprogram my phone and I would need to purchase new phones. Their system is not integrated with open de...

weave is not integrated to the level im looking for and its an asterisk box that uses voip. im looking for a dialer HUD interface that pulls in information from open dental and writes notes back to the com log What are you currently using for phones? We have an asterisk-based FreePBX system with de...

Re: back up
I used to do many of these....then I contacted a company (well known) that set me up with a back up of my server and offsite back up. I don't have to rotate drives, take anything home, worry about taking encrypted data with me anywhere, etc. If something goes down, I have a fireproof onsite back up...

Since we allow storing phone numbers in practically any format, I'd recommend trying to use a regular expression in your query if you start running into odd problems with not finding matching phone numbers etc. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/regexp.html I looked into regular expressions, bu...

Does any know of any applications or plug ins for OD that can send you a text message for certain "events" throughout the day from OD a program link? Would be great for a doc with 2 offices Anything? Re: VOIP phone system bridge with Open Dental
Well, I got a start at it this weekend being iced in the house here in Dallas. I'm on a FreePBX system, which is really easy to setup. I have a dedicated computer for the phone server and there's an option to setup a Caller ID lookup source via MySQL. So far, I'm querying the Open Dental database to...

Re: Treatment plan list without fees?
We use a separate spreadsheet to enter treatment and payment options. It's something I modified from Breakaway Seminars, so I can't really share the document. It's much easier to use that and only takes about 2-3 minutes to enter info and print.

I'll do my best to answer each of your questions based on my experiences: 1)Can you still back up the entire encrypted hard drive? Yes. An encrypted drive functions in Windows exactly the same as a normal drive in regards to features. The only difference might be how you handle "mounting" the drive....

I've had experience with the virus. The only way you're safe is if you have backups offsite that are not attached to your server or network. The best course of action is to have three external hard drives that you rotate daily. As long as you don't have two drives attached at the same time you shoul...

I agree with the above that more than 1 backup strategy is essential!!! We had a server crash last year and lost about 4 months of data (we were running a different software at that time). We had a backup strategy in place . . . or so we thought. We didn't ever test out a restore/recovery of our dat...

Routing Slip Print Order
I haven't been able to find an option or code to sort the print order of the routing slips. By default it prints only by appointment time. I'd like to first order it by ops, then appointment time. Is there a code I can add to the sheet to make that happen?

FYI, I'm still double-checking that I'm having the problem on different computers following the above steps. So far I'm not able to get DirectX to work, which seems to only affect the perio chart. Not a huge deal, but we'd like to use that view as a patient education tool for our perio patients.

Hi, I am in the process of evaluating OD. Would be switching from PracticeWorks. We have done the test conversion and I've found most of the data will translate smoothly. Hi Aussie, I'm not (yet) a user of OpenDental, but I would imagine you could build a query to accomplish what you're wanting to do. Check out the list of 600+ example queries at the link below. Example #78 might be close to what you're wanting: http://opendentalsoft.com:1942/ODQueryList/QueryList.aspx
