Anyone use both of these. We are wanting to try automated confirmations but we don't know enough to even know what to look for?

cryptolocker

I my reading on the ransomware programs, a concern would be it encrypting the backups. As I understand the process the virus will encrypt your system without any warning and when it is done you get a popup for the ransom. How long is it from infection to the popup? Would a week old backup be safe or...

Re: Scanning med histories

Thanks for the help. I tried the twain of the Epson s50 and did not like the usability with OD. Took it back and purchased the scansnap. Using the scansnap to scan to a desktop file and then using the import function is the way to go for me. Very fast.

Re: Scanning med histories

So what is a good file size to shoot for after compression? And do you see any issues not having a thumbnail on the PDF in the chart module vs having the thumbnail on the JPEG?

In light of recent media coverage of the Oklahoma OS, I am looking at the latest in surface disinfectants. Is anyone using this stuff to clean chairs, counters, etc? Any thoughts on this or any other products?

Re: Storing photos

I guess I was curious if other users store in open dental or in XDR. I have a file of extra oral pics to import and I was trying to decide where to put them. I will not be needing any high end manipulation capabilities. I guess my first though is to put them in XDR but wanted to know if there are an...

Storing photos

What is the best solution to store and organize photos? Would it be better to put them in OD or in imaging software such as XDR?

Re: Hardware question

So is the SED worth it since it only come in 320gb? It seems like a good solution in case of theft but 3 years seems quick to replace. Of course with HD failures maybe one should replace the HD every so often?

Re: Hardware question

http://www.apricorn.com/products/hardware-encrypted-drives/apricorn-padlock-usb3.html Like this? Now to follow up, when you say a larger backup HD, is there a reason to have one bigger than the HD in your computer? Is that what you meant? And in a average 1 dr. office will the 320gb HD likely last a...

Re: Hardware question

Looking at the dell site the last couple of days and they have changed the encryption offerings. the only hard drive that has encryption built in is 320 gb SATA 3gb/s. Is that large enough? Just starting with the digital xrays and image storing so I don't know how fast that will fill up.

Re: Hardware question

So for the server I7 intel processor with 7200 raid 1 hard drive. The workstations i3 or i5? I assume the encrption is just software and not any special hard drive so would it be better to have the IT guy install it with my backup? Also does encryption on the hard drive slow the network down? And do...

Hardware question

I am going from one old dentrix (v8) front desk to computers in the ops and digital X-rays. I need some advise on hardware selection. Correct me if I am wrong but it seems most agree with less than 10 workstations windows 7 set up without server software is the way to go. we are also going with XDR ...
