Perhaps it would be more useful having the date of birth in the patient search, rather than the SSN, or age...

It is common practice to ask someone on the phone, when they are calling a medical office, for their date of birth, You don't ask for their SSN, and you don't say "How old are you?"

tracking model box numbers

We number study model boxes separately. I'd like to use the chart number field to keep track of these numbers, but OD by default seems to fill the chart number field with the patient number field. Any easy way around this? I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question: won't be the first or la...

Re: Changing description of procedure codes

Thanks to both of you. Its still worth giving the ADA feedback, though, to try to influence the descriptor in the next cycle of code revisions (not for a year and a half, now). Would hate to have the insurance companies use the current descriptor to deny coverage for varnish in a child who had not y...

Re: Changing description of procedure codes

Ah, too bad. Have to take it up w/ the ADA then. Thanks

Changing description of procedure codes

I understand why you can't delete a procedure code. However, I would like to be able to change the description of an ADA code as it presents on a patient's bill. In particular, I would like to change the description of the ADA code for fluoride varnish so it doesn't mention anything about 'moderate ...

Re: OpenDental Support Fees

My two cents: when I have a problem with opendental, the person on the other end actually seems to know something. I can't say the same for my experiences with other dental software. I consider the support fee a bargain.

error saving document

When trying to print bills from a workstation, I got 'error saving document'. I then was able to print successfully from the server. What I don't understand, is that I have always in the past printed bills form the same workstation with never a problem (its the workstation that is directly connected...

Re: bouncing appointments

Great, Thanks Much. I have to say, my experience with opendental support is so superior to my previous software, its scary.

Re: bouncing appointments

Version 12.3.45.0 Have not been able to duplicate on home computer: I get the 'appointment overlap' warning, which I did not in the office. If I manage to duplicate this in the office next week, I'll log into help, so I can demo for you. I do know that we found about 8 appointments in hidden operato...

Re: bouncing appointments

Then you'll just have to try it, 'cause it works. If you try to move an appointment into a space already filled ( even partially overlapping the filled space) then when you click 'OK' for the move, the appointment bounces. Sometimes it bounces up, sometimes down, and sometimes to the side. And if to...

bouncing appointments

We've had an issue with appointments scheduled in hidden operatories, and didn't know how it was happening, until now When dragging an appointment, if placement is not careful and the appointment partially overlaps an existing appointment, after clicking OK for the move, the appointment will bounce....

"forms", yes, but "consents" no. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong.

consent on kiosk

I'd like to use a tablet (actually a motion computing 1700LE) as a kiosk, to have patients read and sign consent forms, but I haven't been able to figure out how to send consent forms to a kiosk. I'd rather have the tablet set up as a kiosk, to restrict patient's access to the full program. Any ideas?

Re: New computer setup with open dental

My 2 cents...I had been with Eaglesoft for 10 years, just switched to open dental one month ago. Open dental is so much more capable, and stable, there's no comparison. I have 5 ops, 10 computers total, and see no need for anything other than a peer to peer network. As for sensors, I felt that both ...
