16.2 schedule procedure trigger does not work with planner
the new automation trigger "schedule procedure" only works when you use 'Make Appt', if you use appointment planner and copy the planned procedure to the pinboard the trigger does not work. I am trying to get everybody in the office to use appointment planner, that makes this automation useless. Any...

schedule procedure automation
Hi, just updated to 16.2.52.0. I wanted to try the schedule procedure automation trigger to create a pop up warning. I usually have to get a pre-authorization for D7240 from my third parties so I wanted to add a pop up for that. It turns out the trigger only works when you go through "make appt". We...

downgrading by bundling codes
One of the common practices of my third parties is to downgrade multiple one surface restorations on one tooth to a single 2 surface restoration. on our EOB the charges for the single surface codes are denied, but the insurance replaces them with a single code for a multi-surface restoration. Simila...

Re: Charting Conditions
Your charting of conditions will be replaced by diagnosis codes, your thinking is correct to chart your diagnostic findings first and then determine the treatment plan, most people treatment plan "backwards": this is what I will do and here is the reason why, big difference in contrast to medical tr...

Re: ICD 10
I have just been to a symposium in Washington DC, diagnostic codes will become essential and critical in my opinion. Third party payors will require them. That said snomed and ICD codes are very cumbersome, several schools are using Dental Diagnosis Systems to make it easier, it is available at no c...

Re: Which diagnostic codes are you using?
ICD codes and snomed codes are difficult to integrate in the workflow. I think DDS/EZcodes will be much more user friendly. To my knowledge they have so far only been implemented in Axium EHR software which is used by dental schools, I think DDS is the best candidate for open dental to implement dia...

Carbonite Backup
We recently started to backup our software with carbonite. Now we are experiencing problems with our database, error messages on sheets, etc... OD support has told us carbonite is not supported...I don't understand how the backup software needs to be supported? Anybody else have these problems? What...

Re: Getting a .NET error when choosing database
we have occasionally now similar database errors showing up. we are running 13.2.27.0. We are not able to save sheets if the error occurs and loose some of our custom forms. Tech support told us we need to update to windows 7 or 8, we are still running XP professional...., also advised up to update ...

I have tried to implement this. no problems with exporting the patient list and importing it into google contacts. No problem sending text messages. I can however not figure out how to receive text messages. It seems I have to start google voice and open it in a separate window...I don't see where t...

Re: Signing remotely
I am trying to do the same thing. I am using gotomypc to log in remotely. Topaz supports Citrix connections, but the support page description was "over my head" http://www.topazsystems.com/citrix_ts.htm and I am not sure if this all applies to gotomypc as well? I contacted gotomypc support and they ...

Re: preferred name
I will have a conversation with myself...Actually the preferred name can stay in the title(which is awesome!), I missed that I do not have to use the patientgallery bridge that we used for practiceworks! Open Dental has a built-in bridge and I just created a new button in my chart module, the built-...

We like the preferred name field, especially since I am a pediatric dentist, the problem I encounter is, that it shows up on the top status line of the screen in quotation marks, that makes it impossible to use the field since we use a bridged imaging program (Patientgallery), once the nickname show...

Canon P-150 or P-215 scanners?
Both these are sheetfeed scanners, sounds like they are just as fast if not faster than the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners BUT they offer TWAIN drivers! If I understand right that would mean I could scan documents direct from OD with a p-215 scanner? That may be a nicer option than a signature pad....Tho...

creating a chronological chart
I am playing with the trial version, trying to figure out features of the clinical charting. It appears to me that the first screen of the "chart" is mostly used to chart the proposed treatment and to enter completed treatment. How do you retain a record of your chronological progress? I assume it i...

set up block schedule
We currently use practiceworks for scheduling, we setup color coded blocks in the schedule for the front desk staff to know when to schedule which type of procedures, i.e. sedation blocks, new patient blocks, under age 3 patient blocks, hygiene, etc... I am very new to open dental and wonder how oth...
