Recently my staff informed me that updated entries in the Supplies section of Supply Inventory are not retained. eg, if you increase your stock quantity of a certain item. close open dental and go back to it again, its still the old entry there. It did not used to be this way. Currently on ver 16.3....

We managed to recover from a saved OD backup.

This is the first time we had this error in almost 6 years. What can be the possible causes?

Update - we got hit by locky ransomeware. I did not know it targets our mysql files as well

I have windows errors which prevented the full installation of the mysql server on the latest insdier windows 10.

unable to update OD " http status 404 not found"

I am currently on version 15.1.27 and recently moved my OD database from a windows 7 pc standalone to a windows 7 VM

Have recently been unable to update OD, with the error "HTTP status 404 not found".

How can I remedy this?

Hi DAvid,

I am thinking of using VMware esxi for virtualisation instead, and a ZFS file system for the storage. Simply because i am a little more familiar with them.
Do u have a domain controller for your network, or a firewall VM eg Pfsense or Sophos?

That sounds really cool. May I know why you chose CEPH as your storage with so many choices available ( eg Nexenta, FreeNAS, SANS)
is the CEPH acting as your file server for your radiographic images and OpenDentImages as well?

Please share your experiences. I am leaning towards a Esxi setup , but undecided on what is the best storage form. On bare metal, xpenology has worked reasonably well.

Everyone seems to rave about ZFS , but I am not entirely convinced.

I just did a system restore on the Windows 7 pc which houses the database.

Now only the OD on the main pc (which houses the database) can be accessed. the rest get an error message saying " Access denied for user root@PC name. It seems now the database cannot be assessed?

How far are you getting when you try to launch OD? Do you see the splash, and then the choose db window or even the log on window? Have you reinstalled OD with the Setup.exe from your servers OpenDentImages folder? I can get by the splash screen...get to the choose database window, i click ok, anot...

ever since i updated to 12.3.42.0, I have been unable to do a backup.

It would say "preparing for backup..." and stays there for indefinitely.

I had no problems with backups prior to this version.

I have a spare Synology 206 NAS. I wonder if I can use it as a spare for the opendental mysql database, and operate via the NAS if my PC serving as peer to peer comes down.

I understand Synology NAS comes with mysql support.

I realised it had nothing to do with any of the suggestions above. I got everything working again because the employees/staff were not correctly listed to the particular practice. (there are 2 different practices in our clinic).
