Re: maximize/minimize new version
Snap Layouts is mostly there using a work-around in current versions. Say you want OD on the left and browser on the right. Snap the browser to the right first, then you can select OD to snap to the left. Of course full support is always better. Just pointing this out if you want to do it now.

Thank you for your replies. If I delete the codes related to the existing implant (implant not done by me), it would be as though the implant never existed. Marking Patient as VIP (same-day only)
In an effort to reduce cancellations, we place chronic-no-show-disease patients on a "VIP" list, only allowing them to make same-day appointments if we have time, or inactivating them outright. How do you mark these patients as VIPs so we can quickly spot the VIP status when they call in? (such as w...

Good luck to Dentrix keeping everything secure. Not only that, they better take out an insurance policy big enough to cover the cost of losing customer data in case their servers burn up and backups don't work. You lose your customer database = you kill your customer. Conservative estimate: One thou...

I agree with Kevin. I would consider a different database for the Sahara patients. Now if you still want to do scenario A or B. I'm an RDP/VNC guy myself. However I read a post on dentaltown about HIPAA requirements that potentially rule out RDP/VNC as viable options. You're better off to just physically secure your server (lock it up in a room). Get a router with "Guest" network capability.
You can also get a router with DD-WRT compatibility. Load DD-WRT firmware to it and you're ready to go.

Re: iPads and the like
Janet, I just use the ipad to login to one of the computers using Remote Desktop Connection (many RDC apps available in the Apple App Store). I mainly just use it to check my appt schedule to know when I should come in, see what procedures I did, etc. but not really to enter info. You can certainly ...

Re: iPads and the like
I tried to incorporate the ipad into my practice since day 1. I set up a virtual machine to allow the ipad to connect to using Remote Desktop Connection. It worked decently for quick OD checks/X-rays/etc but not really useful for entering information, even with the keyboard dock. I ended up just usi...

Re: Email setup issues
Preface: Godaddy is my domain registrar You need to utilize a feature called email forwarding. Most registrars allow email forwarding. Here is how I have everything setup: Godaddy points to hosting site for http, ftp, etc. Godaddy points to gmail for email. It doesn't have to be gmail, but that's wh...

Re: Question on migration to Linux
I'm curious as to why you are migrating from Windows Server 2008 to Ubuntu Linux. I'm running Windows Server 2008 on top of Ubuntu as a Virtual Machine, so I can switch quite easily. Just want to know why you think it's advantageous to ditch windows server completely.

Re: procedure notes order
Just wanted to chime in...
Jordan, why not allow manual manipulation of the progress notes? (ie. right click on procedure to bring up menu|up|down, or select procedure, hold down Ctrl+Up/Down) Even slicker, allow drag and drop to order the progress notes.

Thanks Jordan. I'll do that, don't want to spend $4,000 on a tiny doorstop.

Re: Apixia Dental Sensors--- Affordable
Nate, did you stop by their booth at the C D A? what kind of sensor is it? I currently have XDR, needing another size 2 sensor. I know XDR supports e2v sensors but I don't know where to get them at besides XDR itself.

Re: Best all in one PC
All-in-one: I went to All-in-Ones from Lenovo IdeaCentre A700 touch screens, VESA mounted right into chair with a swivel mount that swings from left arm to right arm looping around legs. Pretty happy with them so far, but they did cost me $750 a pop. A little nice wow factor, but not essential. Non-...

Time Card Fraud
I've been noticing my employees having the exact same clock in events in the morning, meaning 1 of them would arrive early and clock them all in. I let them come in an hour early to get things ready, but they are abusing it. How can I make it to that only the logged in employee can clock in/out for ...

Don't share with EVERYONE. You can specify which existing user on the server gets Full access. Then, enter that user's user/pass into the kiosk/other client computers to access the server's resource.

Your post brings up multiple points, and I only want to answer a couple of them, so... * Guest WiFi: This is possible using a router that is compatible with DD-WRT or Tomato router firmwares. The Guest network is set to be entirely separate from the main network. If you are extra an*l, buy another r...

Sorry, yes I am compiling. At one point I did include those required dlls in the main app dir (been a long time, so I forgot). I guess those dlls have since changed. Let me try that out. Thanks

Re: OD startup error
I have traced the startup error to the following missing files: Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D.dll Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3DX.dll Microsoft.DirectX.dll After copying those 3 files from v7.5, the startup error is gone. However, the DiagnosticTrace error pops up. I've turned off all Trace as you suggeste...

Re: Should you be archiving emails?
I forwarded all emails to gmail, almost 8GB of space. As google advertises, I've never had to delete anything from lack of space. Email by its nature is insecure, so I have no qualms about using gmail for office communications.

OD startup error
Every compiled version beyond 7.5 has given me this error on start up, and the program would just quit, not even letting me go into the Choose Database screen (see error below). It looks like it has something to do with the tooth chart. OS: windows server 2008 R2. When I copy over the newly compiled...

Re: Medical History
For purposes of updating the Medical History, I would go to Forms and copy over the last existing MH form. By copying, that new form now has a new date. Then the patient just has to sign. I remember another doc bringing up the fact that if you keep copying over forms like this for updating at every ...
