Rob - thanks for the kind words, but looking at the posting date of 2008, I declare this a zombie thread! BUT... Dr. Bob Marcus who developed GPDDS is to be congratulated on his excellent and reasonably price iPad app!!! This is honestly, all you need and a lot more effective than a canned presenta...

Re: Importing patients info into an existing OD database

I'm trying to import from OD database 1 patient and transactions to a separate OD database 2 using Navicat. ( I tried "replication" before, but it was way to scary) What tables do I need to include on Data Syncronization? Should it be a "insert and update" only (dont' include "delete") ? Perhaps the...

Re: Bitcoin payments!!!

I wonder how IRS is going to tax this. Assuming Cash basis accounting. Be taxed twice? 1. Same as cash at the time of service? Maybe what the procedural market worth of the services? 2. When you cash it out for US Dollars, Get taxed on capital gains? Please comment. "I know nothing" Sargent Shultz f...

With what happened in Cyprus, (and currency devaluation and manipulation) I honestly believe that the Bitcoin ( http://bitcoin.org/en/) is here to stay.
It's use will grow. http://money.cnn.com/video/news/2013/04 ... .cnnmoney/

I've also used Microsoft" "backup and restore". and "Windows drive mirroring". Nothing is better than the batch file I've written. Because you can customize so many more things.

Re: What is your "Oh no my server crashed" plan?

Folks, I have had 2 server crashes! Situation 1: I had 2 mirrored drives using BIOS from the motherboard (SATA drives). I had to break the mirror. Situation 2: No hardware failure but after the Windows update, some bizarre unexplainable Windows OS got corrupted. (not from user error or virus). Had t...

Actually, I'm in the process of training an new staff member.
Unfortunately, there is no current (graphical illustration) on how to do all this stuff.
I'm in the process of creating a "flow chart" of how all this stuff comes together.

Re: Dental Senders is no longer free

I haven't signed the papers yet so I'm not sure I'm allowed to disclose. I believe that the fees are different per regional area ant type of referral. For example in Indiana regular patients = $120 and medicaid = $30.

Re: Dental Senders is no longer free

Reposted here from Dentaltown: Well, I took the plunge and joined 800 Dentist. I'll find out soon enough how all of this is going to work out. At least I'll keep dental senders functioning (now, Patient Activator). Paying for a "ghost patient" "no show" is a bit scary. But I was told that @ 50-60% p...

Here's an alarming post: ".. ..The problem is that if HHS decides to use CCHIT as the certification criteria for the EHR stimulus, then the HITECH act will basically be excluding open source EHR and EMR packages from being part of the “certified EHR.” http://www.emrandhipaa.com/emr-and-hipaa/2009/02...

Yes, I've heard that it doesn't scale very well, but I'll never own more than 10 offices. If I did own that many, I'd have T3 connection and a VPN connection to a central clustered server.

Re: MySQL Database on Network Attached Storage(NAS) - works!!

I created fault tolerant servers in the past, created backup strategies etc etc. Mysql Chain replication is by far superior. ( http://www.open-dent.com/manual/daisychainreplication.html). It was a necessity because I have 2 dental offices that required database replication. I think it is a superior ...

Re: Credit Card Processing Integration - XCharge Feedback

(I did not want to setup another card processing fee with monthly dues for x number of years.) I almost signed the faxed contract, when I was surprised to ...
