CommLog is the better choice in my opinion.

No need to create dummy codes to accomplish this. Every dummy code will show as a line item on the patient ledger (for instance when you print a statement). This just confuses the patients. The cleaner look and feel will be the CommLog.

In the reports window under Daily, click on Procedures. This will open a new box that will permit you to run a report with a date range, by individual procedures, and even providers. I think this is what you need.

We noticed with the update to 11.1, while attempting to enter a payment and then hitting the tab button, the cursor jumps UP to the date box instead of DOWN to the Check # box. Is this by design or did a gremlin get into the update? Hitting the tab button twice will get it to the Check # box.

On the left side page of the Billing Options (after selecting Billing from the Manage Module) there is a check box to Exclude if Ins pending. You probably have that checked as a default. Just uncheck it if you want those bills to be generated.

I agree. We enter Returned checks and NSF fees as adjustments. We set these up in the edit adjustment area (Setup--Definitions--Adj types) under additions not subtractions. I think what you are looking for is in the Reports, Daily, Procedures. Adjust the date range as needed (monthly or for the year) and then select group by procedure code and you should have a report that shows a breakdown of quantity and total fees for each.

I would enter an Ins Payment BY TOTAL as "0". That shouldn't mess with anything else. You can even add a note as to why it's "0" if you feel it's necessary.

We post a total payment of "0" for the secondary claim instead of entering a payment by procedure, but I don't know if that will mess up the estimates for the secondary insurance. We also make a note on the secondary claim that the primary ins paid the claim in full.

In our office, the date we receive the check (Ins or personal) is the date we declare it as income. Therefore it is the "date of posting" that gets entered in OD.

Prior to version 5.4 you have to call support and get the update code. After 5.4 changes have been made to the program that eliminated the need for calling support.
