Inconsistent Times on TimeSheets

I recently upgraded from OD v7.0.11 to v17.3.xx. One of the changes I really like is the shift from decimal times in timesheets to clock times. So rather than 6.5 hours, it says 6:30 (6hrs and 30 minutes). This makes it easier to check times when entering them into the payment system. However, I hav...

Re: Upgrading OpenDental

Thanks,

We saw no problems to date, so I updated the live installation. All seems well with the database, and the doctor is very happy with the new system.

Thanks again

Re: Procedure Types

JimZ, Thanks for the feedback. I recommended this approach to the Doctor/wife and she agreed that that's probably the best way to proceed. Historically, she's been changing the tooth number after the appointment when she records her notes -- leaving it blank if it wasn't a specific tooth. However, s...

Re: Upgrading OpenDental

RHaber, Thanks for the help. I actually took a great deal of time last night comparing the updated vs original database and everything looks ok there. In fact, I found quite alot of data that's smaller, but overall the database is significantly larger. Note: I was not looking at the data directory s...

Re: Upgrading OpenDental

I've actually done a quick check that is a bit disturbing. The MySQL backup file from ODv7/MySQLv5.1 was 150M. the MySQL backup file fromODv17/MySQLv5.7 is 40Mb. Does this sound reasonable? I haven't seen any differences in the actual data to warrant concern, but that is a huge difference in file si...

Procedure Types

After upgrading from OD V7 to V17, the doctor has noticed that she can no longer save a procedure without a tooth number if the procedure definition is type "tooth". In the old version, it was possible to leave this blank. Is there a way to select multiple options in the procedure code, or to allow ...

Re: Upgrading OpenDental

Thanks for the quick reply. I've installed a test version for the Doctor to play with -- she loves it so far. I copied the A-Z folder and updated the database, and it all seemed to go well. The DB update walked through each version upgrade as far as I could tell. I had to re-start opendental 2-3 tim...

Upgrading OpenDental

Hello, all. I am upgrading opendental from v7.0.11 to v17.3.xx. I know, I know.... it's been a looong time. But OD has been awesome for a while, and if it aint broke, don't fix it :) I compiled OD and installed it on a test machine outside of the clinic running stock MySQL v5.7. Everything went well...

Upgrade from ancient version -- what to look out for?

First: Thank you, Jordan, for such a great piece of software. My wife's practice has been happily chugging away on v.7.0.11 for some time now, and I've been loathe to update it for fear of disrupting the practice. I know this is now an ancient version, but my wife doesn't like change. By the way, th...

Re: Changed Fees, Now Insurance Estimate Always $0

Aha! Thank you. Now I see how to fix this properly -- by eliminating the substitute codes for those four procedures in List-Procedure Code and editing the individual codes that are effected. I had gone in and changed the amalg. cost to be the same -- which works, but may cause confusion again in the...

Changed Fees, Now Insurance Estimate Always $0

We changed our fees recently via manual update. My wife (the dentist) went through each fee she wanted to change and modified them. She changed fees across the board, but now it seems that any restorative work that is added comes up with $0 for insurance estimate. Since she does not do amalgam filli...

Re: Merge Letter Version 5.5.14

Drtech, I've written a small interface between OD and OO Writer. My wife just started using it at her practice, and it seems to work well. It is not extensively tested (installed for 1 wk now). Presently, it saves the file to the images directory and inserts it into the database, from which you can ...

Okay, let me try that. I may have been underthinking it at first and overthinking it later. I tried activating it with no parameters, then balked at not knowing what parameters to enter. I'll try with just the path and program name and see how that works. I'll let you know later in the week/this wee...

Open Dental & Sidexis XG

We just started up a few months ago and I am using open dental for practice management software, with Sidexis XG for imaging (Sirona IO & Pano). These are digital direct. Could someone walk me through setting up the bridge for Sidexis XG with Open Dental? I tried to set it up, and it asked for a num...
