CEMT over Middle Tier is a tricky beast. Re: Locked out of Security as Admin

Hey there, When you change permissions on a user, you're actually changing permissions on the group that the user belongs to. You were likely a member of this same group so when editing the one member you were also editing your own permissions. An easy way to know who will be affected by the changes...

Re: Backup speed with USB 3?

Hey there, there might be a couple things I can think of - Do you have a USB 3.0 port you're plugging the USB into? USB 3.0 devices can go into USB 2.0 ports but wouldn't get as much of the speed benefit if that's where they are. If you're using a cable is it a 3.0 cable? Same thing as with the port...

Re: Planned Tracker

Hey. There are no date requirements for the planned tracker. The only thing that's required is for the appointment to be marked as "planned" and for there not to be another appointment with the same appointment number. After that what you see is all based off of the filters in the drop down menus ri...

Re: Getting a .NET error when choosing database

It is the beta version. The safer version would be 14.2. We use 14.3 here in the office and it works well so it's up to you really.

Hey there,
I just finished up the feature and it will be included in our next release. There will now be a drop down selection box where you can select all the claim types that you want to display in the History window. Yay!

Re: Encryption / SSD Drive

Hey there, I'm not sure if you've found a way around this but for the most part drives aren't interchangeable between Windows/Mac because of the way the drive's filesystems are formatted. I've read that if you format the drive to use the NTFS file system then Windows can read/write to the drive and ...

Re: Getting a .NET error when choosing database

It looks like you may have a duplicate table in your database. My recommendation would be to run the Database Maintenance tool from within Open Dental. It will likely fix that (plus any other) issues you have! If not, feel free to give us a call. Additionally, before messing with the database it's a...

Here's an interesting discussion on the topic that I came across. It may offer some insight into this area of programming that you may not have thought of: http://programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/46434/how-can-software-be-protected-from-piracy TL;DR version: Preventing piracy is impossible un...

Hi Kevin,
It is indeed a bug! A relic of a bygone era of messing around with the security logging that seems to have been overlooked. It'll get cleaned right up, thanks for pointing it out!

Re: Preventing reverse engineering and protecting IP

Hey there, In my experience when you compile the code and distribute it as the executable file with associated DLL's it's very hard to reverse engineer it. After compilation what the computer runs is what's known as "machine code" which is not human read-able and is used directly by the computer. Th...

Re: Timestamp on Payment or PaySplit

Hello, I believe you are correct in that the Payment only has a date of when it is entered and has no hours/minutes information associated with it. Generally we do not keep track of that level of granularity and after researching this issue for you there does not seem to be a way to associate paymen...

Re: Newbie At Building from Source - Couple Questions

Hello, We use Visual Studio 2012 here. Perhaps you could try using that version and see if that fixes some of the problems. Additionally you will often get errors about "Mixed mode assembly" when trying to compile the project in release mode. Try to compile it in Debug mode to begin with. To do this...
