Default write-off setting for Category Percentage plans with Blue Book enabled

Hello, we just recently enabled the Blue Book. Out of convenience, we set all insurance plans to "Category Percentage" by default. We are only in network with one insurance and I will change this setting when doing Tx Plans and estimates, but otherwise leave it alone. Hasn't been an issue until afte...

Re: Statments - sending under wrong name

Reviving a rather old thread here, but is this ever going to be added? We use EDS for electronic statements and it's a royal pain that we can't send a single patient, or limited statement, electronically. In lieu of this feature, I noticed that I can manually edit the XML file generated by OD before...

Re: A universal robust Blue Book

I think Sikka (sikka.ai) does this to a certain degree. It's not instant, but they got their fingers all over the place and gather quite a bit of UCR data. Used them a while ago, but not very active with them ATM. Looks like their service offerings have evolved a bit over the years.

Re: Appointment API requirements and questions

The API goes through OD servers for security. You never want an external service (API client) to hit your servers directly, that's BAD! I do have to concur that it seems easier to run with your custom API / plugin than having to wait for API functionality (which you possibly have to pay extra for). ...

Is there any ETA for when anything related to this new API will be released? Any sort of documentation?

Re: New API

I was thinking along the lines of potentially integrating the API with other services (for example, alternate methods of hosting the service), but could see why you would shy away from that. The use case I'm thinking of might not be practical either... just thinking out loud. But to play devils advo...

Re: New API

This is excellent news! I have been creating my own APi for an internal web service and have hooked it to OD using a Plugin for more complex and update logic (to not break support rules). Will the API be open source, or will it exclusively be hosted via proxy server? Would be great if you gave both ...

Re: Writing to the db is discouraged, but the API is very barebones, what do I do?

I agree, doing updates can be extremely dangerous and if I was a software provider, I would absolutely hate it if customers modified data through unsupportable means. I love the idea of better audit logs and integrity checks, especially for billing related tables. I've only don't direct updates on a...

Re: Writing to the db is discouraged, but the API is very barebones, what do I do?

When you start locking down tables, will you provide "safe" routines we can use to make updates? For example, I have a routine that updates writeoff using a percentage of feebilled. Running that as a backend job is extremely efficient. What is the recommended way of implementing such logic if the ta...

Re: Security in the cloud and why moving to the cloud is bes

I'm surprised by how little movement I've seen with regard to making it easier to use Open Dental in a "cloud based" way. But at same time, I completely understand the sluggishness. I personally have worked to develop and build solutions that allow mid/large companies to move their entire desktop ap...

Re: WYSIWYG HTML and Open Dental

The DOCTYPE tag defines the type of HTML in the file. You should never enter that tag in yourself. I suspect you could enter in anything that goes between the HTML tags, but haven't used that editor myself and suspect it probably has some other limitations.

Re: Claims + Attachements -dentalXchange

We just started with EDS yesterday and so far, we really like it! The interfaces are very clean and easy to use. However, they do not handle attachments. They pointed us to NEA FastAttach and provided a discount code too. I'm not sure if we need the attachment service, but considering it's their bre...

Re: Mobile web appointment deleted not logged in audit log!

To clarify, there is an Appointment Create record, but no Appointment Delete record... so I overstated "there's no record of it having existed." But I wouldn't know to look for the appointment create, since there's no easy way to tell it was deleted.

I am running on 19.1.

Mobile web appointment deleted not logged in audit log!

I'm not sure if I'm just not looking at this correctly, but I can't seem to find any record in the audit log for appointments deleted through the Mobile Web. The appointments simply disappear and there's no record of it having existed. There's also no granular access control for Mobile Web users. An...

Re: Generate Web Sched Recall link

Yes, I would really, really like that! This way we can have a marketing company customize messaging for recall appointments and reference the recall appointment link in patient communications. The messaging that comes with OD is good, but it's very, very basic. Right now, we'll probably set it up so...

Generate Web Sched Recall link

Is there a way to generate the web sched recall link without having it send out a email notification? I want to generate the custom URL so a third party solution can use it (using the record created in the database)... but I can't seem to find a good way of generating it.

Re: custom patient portal

Alright... so this appears much more difficult than expected. Unless I'm missing something, the patient portal isn't part of the released code base... somewhat disappointing since I thought this whole platform was supposed to be open source. Looks like the FHIR API can be used, but it's also closed ...

Re: custom patient portal

Something specific I want to change/add to the patient portal... I have my own web widget for accepting payments through my own credit card merchant... I've asked around, no one can beat their rates. I want to change the Payment button on the Statements page to redirect to my own page. Seems simple ...

custom patient portal

Has anyone tried to create their own patient portal for use with Open Dental? Seems like it wouldn't be too hard to do for a good web developer... but I'm not sure if there there are some basic gotcha's I'm not thinking about. Has anyone thought about this?

Seems like this thread has been dead for a while... what's the status of the web based version? I would prefer something that I can host through my own service provider....

Am half tempted to try building something myself if it doesn't already exist.

Re: OpenDental in the Cloud... serverless setup

This is a very small solo-practice where I am the IT support, but I have separate full-time job. Google Drive actually works well for photos and x-rays, bandwidth does not seem to be an issue. I am more concerned about outages caused by server being down (causing me to loose day of work, if I'm even...

OpenDental in the Cloud... serverless setup

Did a some quick searches and I can't seem to find a straight forward answer. We currently are running Dentrix G4 on a very, very old server that is about to go kaput. I would love to go to OpenDental, but I also don't want to buy a new server. Using Google Drive works well for storing files and is ...

Re: Question about OpenDental and Amazon EC2

Is running MySQL on Amazon HIPAA compliant? Sounds like it is as long as MySQL is encrypted. What about Google Cloud SQL? Seem to have a high level of encryption baked in... https://developers.google.com/cloud-sql/ Is this also HIPAA compliant? If not, what needs to be done to make this setup HIPAA ...
