Is it possible to see the source code of the sql queries on the standard report screen? I'd like to modify some of them as user queries.

Re: How to install OpenDental trial to Linux server?

We ran servers on Ubuntu for several years. When OD went with a newer version of Mysql Ubuntu did not upgrade for a while so we had to go to Win7 servers. We gained significant aggravation and annoyance for our trouble.

Re: What is your "Oh no my server crashed" plan?

We run two identical rack servers. Each is RAID 5 with 6 hard drives. The production server backs up to the other nightly and also to a muscular work station elsewhere in the office. Both rack servers are Linux running character based only with MySQL. The images files are shared to workstations with...

Lexicomp box

When adding a drug for a patient it is very easy to click on the Lexicomp box. It is very annoying to have a browser fire up when adding a long list of meds for a patient. It is somewhat aggravating to have to enter each drug one-at-a-time anyway. Can this box be moved to the other side at the top s...

Re: Sales Tax

New Mexico has taxed all medical services for years and food as well. It is cleverly called Gross Receipts Tax. The problem is that insurance companies will not cover tax so it is embedded into the fees. I use a simple query to calculate what gets sent to the governor monthly.

It would be a big help to me to have a referral familiar name field on the referral sheet. It would need a field added to the table, though.

Re: Open Dental in a Perio practice

The sheets feature isn't difficult to program and is quite flexible. With an additional few fields out of the database there would not have to be any editing for routine automatic letters. One downside, though, on a letter that has a lot of hand entered text, there is no spell check. I prefer to hav...

Re: Open Dental in a Perio practice

Sure, there are queries to identify the number of referrals and the income from each referral. I can send screen shots of the sheets setup for some of the letters we use. I'm not sure how to export the actual setup of a sheet.

Re: Open Dental in a Perio practice

I've been using OD in my perio practice for a couple of years. Most parts work well for us. The letters to referring docs is still sort of primitive. I've a number of semi-automatic letters in the sheets format and they work OK with some minor editing. It would smooth out a lot once the referring do...

I tried to update from 6.7.30 to 6.8.32 in the usual way. The download went normally and the database update did as well. Posting letter types

I noticed when a sheets letter is posted to the progress notes, the letter type is posted instead of the letter description. For referral letters we have 17 different ones. It would be good to have the letter description posted so it would not be necessary to open each one to see what letter was sen...

Source cor standard queries

A followup on this. The prescription sheet will allow a reprint. We are using a custom prescription sheet as well a custom letter to referral sheet. Trying to reprint the custom letter to referral crashes Open Dental. It does it on all the workstations.

Re: Letters Bug?

I've been somewhat frustrated with this as well. The field does not seem to grow at all. Say if you put 5 lines in the setup and type 7 lines, the field does not grow but only scrolls and the last two lines do not print. If you put 10 lines in the setup and only need to type 2 lines then there is a ...

Re: sheets broken

It could have been doing this on previous versions. Most of the letters are short and may not have exceeded the 7 lines I had on the notes window. I suppose the notes window could be made much taller but then the "sincerely" would be at the very bottom and look odd if there were only a few lines of ...

sheets broken

I just upgraded to 6.0.11.0. Now the sheet function for referral slip will only print the first few lines that are visible on the entry form. If the entry exceeds that number of lines and has to scroll, the subsequent lines do not print. It does not matter to what printer it is sent.

Referral slips

I've been on OD for 18 months and it is a great product. The correspondence features are weak for specialty offices, though. I'm a periodontist and about 20% of my time is dealing with correspondence with referring offices. The quick notes aren't much help as each letter is pretty much unique and ar...

Ours is a perio office and we do a LOT of correspondence to the referring offices. The letters feature is good but I usually have to edit each letter with particulars about the case. Re: OpenDental on Ubuntu 7.1

I noticed a choice to put the images in the database. I have liked the idea of having everything in one place. Backup size does not seem to be critical to me. Are there any other negatives to this? It would solve the connection of the Linux workstations to images a lot easier.
